Mother Dorothy Davis also known as “The Energizer Bunny”, was a sweet soul and cherished leader in the church. Her knowledge of Jesus began when she was 12 years old on her childhood farm. An original pillar and active member of Friendship Apostolic Church of God, Mother Davis joined when the church was located in Deanwood, Maryland. She was baptized in December 1980, and received the Holy Ghost on February 13, 1981.
She and Deacon Warren Davis were known for their motorhome which they used for Jesus, along with their well-known cross country trips. They would take the youth on trips and Mother Davis enjoyed presiding over the youth. Mother Davis served in substantial leadership roles, including long term presidencies and President Emeritus at Friendship including: The Missionary Band, The Deaconess Board, The Senior Choir, The Nurses Guild, The Helping Hand, and a district worker for the Sunday School Department that expanded her workmanship from New York to Alabama.

Mother Davis was truly full of energy, and it was constantly shown in her love for Jesus. She was known for heading to church immediately after being discharged in the hospital, and continuing to keep moving for Jesus, despite her physical ailments. During the pandemic, she enjoyed still being active in church and participating in her services via zoom, especially Sunday school.

She and Deacon Davis were also known for being on the go. Mother Davis found joy in Jesus and in the most fulfilling activities: winning bowling tournaments, traveling with the saints, and hosting vibrant gatherings at her waterfront property (Indian Acres). Figuratively and literally, Mother Davis wore many hats, but perhaps the chef’s fitted her best. She loved making cakes and monkey bread for the saints.

Mother Davis truly loved the saints and left a lasting legacy, including teaching the women about holiness and modesty. We are thankful for our leadership, example, and dedication to Jesus.

Her song: I Found All, All that I Needed, I Found it in the Lord

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
